About the artist

Jenna Winterton is an Auckland-based contemporary artist, designer, signwriter, and general creative. She specialises in creating vibrant and playful art pieces that build joyful gathering places in the community. Utilising a variety of unusual materials not necessarily used in art to create something quite unique.

The act of making art that is community building and approachable for everyone is a key part of Jenna’s practice. Where the good created by the art piece and it’s potential impact on the community it is displayed in is always considered in the making of the work.

Best known for her public art installations like “Light Blooms” in Durham Street East in Auckland. Jenna has had installations both public and part of paid events. She has had installations at Durham Street East (Light Blooms), Sculpture Onshore (Moving Life), The Whangarei Night Lights (Music Blooms), Upper Vulcan Lane (Blooms), and the Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens (Titania’s Necklace). Jenna has also had various art pieces as part of community galleries and arts awards including the The Hibiscus and Bays Art Awards 2023 and the Franklin Arts Festival 2023.
